World of Walker is the second studio album by Norwegian record producer Alan Walker. It was released on 25 November 2021 through MER Musikk and Sony Music Entertainment and includes his successful 2019 single "On My Way".[1]

Background

[edit]

The elaborate official artwork for World of Walker consists of thousands of selfies submitted by fans around the world as part of a collaborative production campaign.

Walker said of the album, "It's been three years since the release of my debut album Different World, and since then I've spent a lot of time working on new music and further developing Walker's cinematic universe. I am very excited to finally be able to release my new album, World of Walker. What is really special to me is that the official artwork consists of thousands of selfies of walkers from around the world. The time has finally come to unveil the community we have built together, the World of Walker."[2]

The first track on the album is "Time (Alan Walker Remix)", Alan's remix of the song "Time" from the film Inception (2010). The original song by Hans Zimmer, whom Walker respects, is a bold and brilliant redefinition of the gentle waves that slowly come and go and eventually transform into a tremendous threat, with the repetitive nature of dance music and a strong electro sound. This single track alone is an immediate indication that Alan's creativity has evolved far beyond his previous work. Incidentally, this album also includes a remix of "Hummell Gets the Rockets" used in the movie The Rock, also by Hans Zimmer, at the end of the album.[3]

Other songs on the album include the hit "On My Way", a sequel to "Alone", the hit "Alone, Pt. II" featuring pop singer Ava Max, and "Fake a Smile" featuring Salem Ilese, who became a worldwide sensation after TikTok.[4]
